MGI Introduces 2 New Digital Inkjet Industry Innovations at drupa 2016

24/05/2016. MGI Digital Technology, the leading French manufacturer of digital printing presses and innovative finishing solutions, has announced 2 major new products for digital and offset applications at drupa 2016 in Düsseldorf, Germany from May 31st to June 10th. (Hall 5, stand D21).

A major technological leap forward
The JETvarnish 3DW solution is the world’s first digital label enhancement press capable of applying 2D spot coats, 3D dimensional textures and personalized embossed hot foiling for roll-to-roll applications. It can accommodate reel widths from 100 to 420 mm. The fully digital solution is designed to add value and profitability to printed labels from a wide variety of digital presses, offset and flexo presses.

Print Enhancement Improves Brand Management
The new JETvarnish 3DW & iFOIL W system adds valuable shelf impact with colorful, luxurious and eye-catching special effects that improve brand identification and consumer perception.
For printers and converters, the new MGI digital system supports the growing digitallyprinted label trend of strengthening customer relationships via rapid prototyping, short run customization and production-strength power.

Flexo Substrate Management & Artificial Intelligence Registration
The system produces 2D spot UV coating, 3D embossed varnish textures and embossed foil effects all in one pass. The full JETvarnish 3DW iFOIL solution also includes flexo priming station options for substrate surface management. MGI integrated this unique pretreatment process inline to optimize the rendered input for digital enhancement effects.
The JETvarnish 3DW also features a new, state of the art artificial intelligence-based sheet registration system, called the AIS SmartScanner, which will be unveiled and launched at drupa. The JETvarnish 3DW will be demonstrated live at the upcoming drupa 2016 international print trade fair in the MGI Booth (Hall 5, Stand D21).

Technological preview
The ALPHAJET represents an innovative and powerful new type of digital inkjet press. For the first time ever in the whole industry, a printing equipment merges the production power and visual creativity of the Graphic Arts with the industrial science of Printed Electronics to create a truly unique technology solution – especially for the rapidly growing digital packaging & label markets.
The ALPHAJET is a B1+ sheetfed digital press with a sheet size capability of up to 75x120cm (29.5x47"). It uses the very latest MGI Inkjet engineering technology to produce output management with 4 to 8 UV Colors. Featuring a variety of different optional configurations, the ALPHAJET can also apply 2D/3D Spot UV Coating and Embossed Hot Foiling special effects.
One of the advanced technology options provides a dedicated production solution for Intelligent printing (for example, RFID antennas). This module uses conductive ink jointly developed with AGFA.
In addition to these products, MGI will show its full line of new digital printing and finishing equipment, including the latest JETvarnish 3D Evolution, a Spot UV Coating and Foiling Solution for B1+ packaging and smaller sheet formats. The entire Meteor Digital Press family and the JETcard 3D inkjet card factory will also be running live production demos. All the products will run continuous and live demonstrations on the MGI stand – Hall 5 D21.
